Train’s Paintwork Restored
An act of vandalism at one of Donald’s well-loved landmarks has been met with a swift community response, as locals worked together to restore the appearance of the Lion’s train park.
The steam locomotive on display at the park was recently defaced with graffiti, an incident that disappointed many in the community who value the site as part of the town’s shared heritage and a popular stop for visitors.
Rather than letting the damage remain, Donald resident William Carr and Buloke Shire Council staff member Kym Frichot took swift action to address the graffiti.
Using leftover paint from the Donald Lions Club, they worked to cover the markings and restore the steam locomotive to a more presentable condition.
The Donald Train Park remains an important part of the town’s streetscape and visitor experience, and while incidents like this are disappointing, the response from locals shows a continued commitment to maintaining and protecting shared public spaces.
