Donald Chamber of Commerce and Industry presents “Taking Care of Business”, because taking care of yourself is taking care of business.
This informative evening is to take place in the newly renovated Anderson Blue Room on Monday evening, (March 22) From 6 p.m., for a 6.30 start.
The Chamber through secretary Stacey Morris’s grant writing skills, was fortunate to receive funding from the Victorian Government through its Business Chambers and Trade Groups Support Program. The focus of this application was to provide support to businesses for their health and well-being, how to evolve in the world of social media, and why print media is still so vital in small rural communities.
Lots of exciting things are planned in the lead up to and around Easter, so stay tuned for these exciting announcements soon. An Easter Scavenger Hunt is planned for Thursday, April 1. Mark that in the calendar now.
Tickets for Taking Care of Business are in sale now online via at www.eventbrite.com.au or call in and see Stacey at Love Shack Giftware. Cost is $20 per head, which includes a delicious 2-course meal provided by the Donald P. & A. Society, raising much needed funds for the return of the Donald Show later in the year.
Speakers will include:
Ben Brooksby
The Naked Farmer, Ben Brooksby, is a fifth-generation farmer from St. Helen’s Plains, in western Victoria. Ben is passionate about raising awareness for rural mental health, as he has suffered from anxiety, and understands the crippling effects this can have on the day-to-day life of a sufferer. He has faced the stress first-hand of dealing with the financial pressures of drought and then losing his family home to fire. What started as a bit of fun posing nude in the back of a grain truck wearing nothing but a cap and work boots, with a smattering of lentils covering the right places, has turned into a global phenomenon. While he was working in the tractor sowing lentils for the next harvest, he decided to post the photo on social media – but he needed a name. For a bit of fun he chose The Naked Farmer.
Ben knew he was on to something when just seven days later he had 1,000 followers – and now has over 7,000 followers on Twitter.

Mental Health is a problematic issue around the world that until recently has often been ignored. The Naked Farmer is a social media movement aiming to break down the difficult conversational barriers that often lie in front of people struggling to speak up on what’s going on inside. Make sure you come listen to Ben’s Story. It may be beneficial to yourself and those around you.
Johanna Clark
Fierce, courageous, empowered, unstoppable. . .
This is Johanna Clark! The Warracknabeal Johanna Clark, although the Donald Johanna Clark shares all those amazing traits too! Must be something in the name!
Johanna is a mum, a business owner, an entrepreneur and smashing all things social media, and has an amazing story to tell, make sure you get your ticket for “Taking Care of Business” to listen Johanna’s story.
Shane O’Shea
Born and bred local with a passion for rural communities, Shane will give a brief history on the “Buloke Times”, how COVID and Social Media has affected newspapers, and why print media is still so important for small rural communities.
The evening is planned to be over by approximately 9 p.m., and an open invitation is extended to everyone. You don’t need to be a business owner or a farmer; this evening will have something that everyone can benefit from, so get your tickets today to help with catering needs!
