Stahl Family Reunites at Wycheproof
Members of the Stahl family recently returned to Wycheproof from February 13 to 15, for a family reunion celebrating their shared history and strong connection to the town.
At the heart of the gathering was the legacy of Jim and Rita Stahl. Married in 1937, Jim and Margarita “Rita” (née Keane) raised six children in Wycheproof through the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s, establishing strong family values that continue across generations.
Jim was well known locally as a barber, hospital hairdresser and barman, and for his dedicated volunteer work with the CFA, football club and church. Rita was equally respected for her involvement with the Red Cross, CWA, CFA Auxiliary and church, and for her warmth, hospitality and love of gardening.
Family members travelled from near and far and enjoyed reconnecting and sharing stories. A legacy that was built by Jim and Rita and their love for family is still present in the next generations and that was clear to see over the weekend.
Special thanks were extended to Micky Giddings for bringing treasured Stahl family memorabilia from the local museum, and to long-time family friend Alan Taylor for joining the celebrations. A great weekend was enjoyed by all.
