Netballers Honour Carmel Fitzpatrick
• Vale Carmel Fitzpatrick.

The Charlton Football, Netball and Hockey clubs paid tribute to much-loved community member, Carmel Fitzpatrick, during Saturday’s matches, with all teams wearing black armbands in her honour.

Carmel’s contribution to the Charlton Netball Club was extraordinary. Beginning her playing career in 1982 with the under-15 side, she went on to represent the club across every grade and is estimated to have played more than 600 games. Her achievements included five senior premierships, coaching two junior premiership teams and receiving numerous individual awards.

Beyond her playing career, Carmel coached NCNA representative teams, held several executive positions within the Charlton Netball Club, coached multiple junior and senior teams, and served as president of the North Central Netball Association. Inducted as a life member of the Charlton Netball Club in 2007, Carmel leaves a lasting legacy that will continue to influence generations of netballers.

The club also acknowledged the support of the Boort Netball Club, whose players joined Charlton in wearing black armbands and participating in a minute’s silence before the games. The gesture reflected the deep respect Carmel held throughout the wider community. Sincere condolences are extended to Chris, Brian, Greg, Josie, Catherine, Terry, Shane, Andrew, Loretta and the extended Fitzpatrick family.
