Mixed Netball Results at Donald

Donald Netball Club welcomed Wedderburn for round 4, with all netball sides showing strong effort and teamwork throughout the day.

Several teams produced impressive passages of play, with plenty of positives and continued improvement across all grades.

14-&-under “B”
Donald worked hard from the opening whistle, with strong attacking drives from Millie and Anisia creating opportunities through the court. Wedderburn proved difficult to stop early, but Donald continued to fight hard with excellent teamwork and persistence.

A highlight of the third quarter came from Anisia, who scored a spectacular goal to lift the side and spark excitement around the court. Donald continued to attack strongly in the final term, with Aria and Anisia combining well to showcase the team’s growing confidence and connection. Score: Donald 6 def. by Wedderburn 19.

14-&-under “A”
Donald’s 14-&-under “A” produced a strong all-round performance to record an impressive 28-6 victory on the weekend.

Both teams started strongly before Donald’s attackers found their rhythm in the second quarter, helping the home side build scoreboard pressure. Ellie and Charlee worked well together in defence, while the team’s excellent passing into the ring and attack on the ball kept momentum going throughout the match.
Donald continued to extend its lead in the third term, with players adapting well despite several position changes in the final quarter.

17-&-under “A”
Donald started strongly, with great feeds into the goal circle and accurate shooting helping the side build an early lead. Wedderburn showed some strong passages of netball, but Donald continued to drive hard and use channels well through the court.

A few changes at half-time did not disrupt Donald’s flow, with the side continuing to back each other, chase loose balls and move the ball well through the court. Strong movement between the goalers helped extend the scoreline, while Wedderburn continued to apply pressure throughout the match. Donald 61 d. Wedderburn 11.

“C” Reserve
Excitement was high as Donald’s “C” reserve side finally took the court for its first game of the season. Donald’s goalers showed accurate shooting early, while Wedderburn’s defenders applied strong pressure and forced Donald to work hard for every score.

Sophia Stirling impressed with her second efforts and rebounds, while Donald’s defenders worked hard switching and intercepting passes. Changes through the midcourt helped keep the side fresh and competitive across the four quarters.

In the final term, Jaya Stirling and Alyssa Hepworth applied strong pressure to make Wedderburn’s passing difficult, while Sarah Jardine worked strongly in the ring alongside Sarah MacDonald. Despite the final score, Donald showed great teamwork and persistence throughout the game. Donald 35 def. by Wedderburn 54.

Special mention to Kailie Krause, Sophia Stirling, Mon Humphrey and Amelia Grahame on playing their first senior game for Donald.

“C” Grade
Donald “C” grade fought back strongly after Wedderburn jumped out to an early lead. The team improved as each quarter progressed and worked hard to close the margin. Donald took the lead during the third quarter, but Wedderburn regained the advantage heading into the final term and held on for a narrow 44-41 win.

“B” Grade
Donald put in a determined performance against Wedderburn in round 4, falling just short in a hard-fought 55-50 contest.

After a slow opening quarter left Donald trailing by 13 goals, coach Danielle Jones made tactical adjustments that sparked a strong response. Donald dominated the second quarter, scoring 17 goals while restricting Wedderburn to 10, with Courtney Doak and Jess Nunn leading the defensive pressure.

The momentum continued into the third term as Jas Hollis, Zoe Grigsby and Laila Reilly combined well in the ring, while Rachel Meulendyks and Emma Green produced important intercepts to keep Donald in the game. Donald fought hard to the final whistle, with every player contributing in a spirited last-quarter effort.

“A” Grade
Donald took on a polished Wedderburn outfit on Saturday, with the visitors taking control early and maintaining momentum throughout the game. Despite the scoreboard pressure, Donald continued to work hard across all four quarters.

The defensive end worked tirelessly, with Ally Doak and Anna Sudholz creating turnovers through strong pressure and smart positioning. Donald’s attacking combinations improved as the game progressed, finding better rhythm through the midcourt. Jas Hollis made a positive impact when taking the court, while Abby Griffiths continued to work hard all over the court.

Wedderburn proved too strong, winning 69-42, but there were still plenty of positives for Donald to take from the game.
