Burning Reminder for Landowners
At just after 11 p.m. on April 4, the CFA was notified of a large haystack fire at Wooroonook.
With tankers arriving from Wooroonook, Charlton and Wycheproof, they discovered approximately 250 large hay bales on fire. After some consideration it was decided to let the stacks burn out, which happened over the course of the following two days.
A timely reminder for landowners to continually monitor any haystacks they have as the rain from early March may have impacted the hay and could cause them to heat up.
