An initiative of Southern Mallee Primary Care Partnership’s Mental Health & Wellbeing Committee, the “Wellbeing Matters” flyers, are an updated information resource providing names and contacts of support services available to individuals and families across the community.
A separate flyer for each local government area has been developed and is now available for circulation and distribution in Buloke, Gannawarra and Swan Hill.
“We are glad to see these local resources developed to provide the people of our area with a resource which clearly outlines the services in the community that are there to support them,” said Ian Johansen, manager of Head-space Swan Hill, and chair- man of the Southern Mallee PCP Mental Health & Wellbeing Committee.
The Wellbeing Matters flyers serve as a reminder to ask friends, family or work colleagues if they’re okay.
With statistics of up to 45% of adults experiencing a mental illness at some stage of their lives, and 26% suffering from anxiety, substance abuse and disorders or other mental illness, the flyers provide a comprehensive list of where to go for help. The reverse side focuses on 5 ways to wellbeing as a preventative measure.
“With lockdown in effect due to the pandemic, there is the sense that the door is closed on many services; however, there is support readily available,” said Sallie Am”y, Prevention & Projects Officer with SMPCP.
“The flyers aim is to prompt individuals and families to check in on each other and if support is needed, they have options at their fingertips to call on. The agencies have COVID Safe plans in place and are able to work with individuals and families.”
The Wellbeing Matters flyers can be found on SMPCP’s Facebook and Twitter pages as well as their website www. smpcp.com.au/wellbeingmatters.
Southern Mallee PCP is one of 28 primary care partnerships across the state of Victoria working in primary health prevention, via established networks of health, local government and community services that improve the health and wellbeing of all Victorians by working together.
