Despite their football loss on Saturday, the Royal Blues still had plenty to celebrate.

On Saturday, players, members and supporters gathered at the Anderson Blue Room to celebrate Donald senior football side’s 2004 premiership year.

Current president Danny Forrest welcomed to the stage premiership president, Kevin Anderson, who gave a summary of how Donald managed to attract such a great coach as Glenn Wilkins through the efforts of its recruiting team, in particular Garry Young, of whom Glenn said, “You just couldn’t say ‘no’ to Youngie!”

Lachlan Jones then interviewed Glenn, bringing up fond memories of how the season unfolded, and how the side consisted of a mix of seasoned campaigners and many teenagers, some of whom had represented Bendigo Pioneers that season.

For the record, the scores were Donald 16.9 (105) d. Wycheproof-Narraport 13.11 (89). Des Darcy Memorial Medal Glenn Wilkins, V.C.F.L. Medal Travis Baird.
