Twelve Weeks of Christmas . . . Shopping Promotion Starts on Thursday

Donald Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s annual Christmas Shopping Promotion kicks off next Thursday, October 1, with twelve weekly draws of prize winners scheduled during the lead-up to Christmas.

The response to the re-vamped promotion from local businesses has been overwhelming, with a record number of 85 participants contributing to enable those who shop locally to be rewarded for their support.

Due to the impact of COVID-19, and its associated lockdown and other restrictions, the Chamber’s promotions committee has opted to offer more smaller rewards, in the form of 12 weekly draws of two $100 shopping vouchers. There will also be additional surprise mystery draws during the promotion period. 

The first draw will take place on Friday, October 9, live on the Chamber’s Facebook page, from one of the participating businesses.

Each time you shop at any of the participating businesses, identified by the distinctive green “Twelve Days of Christmas” poster, and spend a minimum of $20 up to $100, you are entitled to receive an entry voucher. And for every $100 or part there of in value above this amount, you will recieve another voucher.

Fill in the details on the coupon, and lodge it in one of the five centrally located collection bins, at Johno’s Diner, Donald Newsagency, Weir’s IGA Supermarket, Mensland and Donald House and Hardware.

It is important that all businesses should direct their customers to lodge their own entries in the abovementioned bins, to ensure their participation in the weekly draws.

Coinciding with the Melbourne Cup visit to Donald on Tuesday, October 6, there will also be a Special Shopping Day, which will include double dollars and provide an additional opportunity for those who shop locally to benefit from the numerous special on offer and, through their support of local businesses receive additional entry coupons in the first draw, on the following Friday, October 9.

Acknowledging the challenges faced by local businesses, Chamber president, Dee Bufton is delighted with the response to this year’s promotion.

“In a very challenging year, we’ve had to change the setup of the promotion, but we’ve received great support and are very thankful to all our participating businesses.”

And due to the increased level of participation, Dee said the her committee was looking at extra ways to reward local shoppers.

“There will be additional surprise mystery draws throughout the promotion period” she said.

“So get those entries in, there’s hundreds of dollars worth of Donald store credits to be won!”
