Tigers Dominate Donald
Donald’s senior footballers made the trip up to Sea Lake on the back of some improved performances, having won two games and sitting fourth on the ladder coming into the weekend’s clash.
They certainly came to play in the first quarter, showing great attack on the ball and looking to change the angles with their ball movement. Sea Lake-Nandaly, coming off a game against Charlton followed by the bye, was a little slow to start but gradually worked its way into the contest as the quarter progressed.
At quarter time, Sea Lake-Nandaly led 4.4 (28) to 1.2 (8). Although the Tigers held a 20-point lead, Donald was still well in the game after having plenty of the football, but they were unable to capitalise on several opportunities in front of goal.
The second quarter was all the Tigers’ as they really got their ball movement going and started to get on top around the clearances across the ground. Sea Lake-Nandaly piled on eight goals while keeping Donald scoreless, which proved to be the decisive quarter of the match.
The third quarter was more of an arm wrestle. Donald started well and was able to hit the scoreboard, while much of the play was fought between the arcs, resulting in just five goals for the term.
The game opened up again in the final quarter and the Tigers were able to hit the scoreboard once more, adding six majors to the Royal Blues’ one to run away with a 107-point win.
