From a brain storming session, to a blossoming idea; from there to a story, a script and some set dates... The Corack Performing Arts Project has been working for months to bring a play to life from scratch.
The group is trying hard to make its first play a success by selling out two shows on August 11 and 17. The first show will be a Sunday matinee starting at 1 p.m. with a two-dollar sausage sizzle to fill empty bellies before the show.
On Saturday, August 17, the show will commence at 7 p.m. with a shared supper to finish the evening, so please bring a plate. The Corack Hall suppers are traditionally known for being delicious and worthy of the trip to Corack on their own.
The play “Staged” was written specifically for the members of the Corack Performing Arts Project, and with ages ranging from primary school to adult, another challenge overcome was how to fit the group's growing number in to Corack Hall’s tiny performing space for the duration of the show. Adults and kids together on that itty bitty stage? The result, if nothing else, is inventive, but you'll have to come along and see for yourself.

Playtime Palaver
Me: What’s this?! What’s going on?
You: I think we’re trapped in a blurb!
Me: A blurb! What do you mean by blurb?

You: You know, a promotional blurb, about a show or something…
Me: A show? What kind of show?
You: Look over there, see? It says it’s a play called “Staged”: written by the members of the Corack Performing Arts Project.
Me: Who are they?
You: You know, the little amateur theatre group that meets at the Corack Hall.
Me: Are they still going out there?
You: Not only going, but GROWING; they have a bunch of kids in the group too.
Me: Will they have kids and adults in the same show?
You: It’s a play… and I’m not sure.
Me: The stage out there is pretty small, I wonder how they’ll pull it off?
You: I guess you’ll have to go to the show to know!
Me: It’s a play…
You: Whatever, now how do we get ourselves out of this blurb?
