Monday and Friday, parents, carers and children gather at St Mary’s parish centre in Birchip for sessions of facilitated and parent run Playgroup sessions.
Every second Friday, playgroup sessions are facilitated by the Buloke Shire Supported Playgroup Facilitator, and on Mondays the sessions are hosted by Mallee Family Care.
The Mallee family care “Tiny Bulls” are free sessions funded by the Australian government department of Social Services between 10.30 a.m. and 12 midday.
The regular playgroup sessions on Fridays are fun and interactive and whether they are externally facilitated or not, there is always an activity that builds children’s motor skills and confidence and lots of different toys to play with.
Last week the children loved creating a range of patterns and colours with paint, brushes and balloons.
Playgroup helps children to learn and develop through informal play and sharing with other children, and they give parents and carers a chance to connect with and learn from other families and carers in the local community.
Everyone caring for children 0-5 years is encouraged to join in the sessions offered
in Birchip at the St Mary’s Parish centre at 2 Corack Road, Birchip, on Monday and Fridays. Anyone who requires further information about Birchip Playgroup can contact President Alison Noonan, vice-president Bridget Nottle, or secretary Stephanie Coffey.
