Straight from the O’Shea family archives, the two accompanying football photographs hold pride of place in the memory of Frank O’Shea, former North-Central coach and life member of the league.
They also feature some of the best footballers produced by the league and its clubs.
The top photo features one of the best underage teams North-Central has fielded, and includes among its ranks, Graham Teasdale, who went on to win the VFL’s 1977 Brownlow Medal, Kevin Sait, who won the VFA’s 1980 Field Trophy for Division 2 “best and fairest”.
It is also made up of some of the best players to have represented their respective clubs at senior level within the North-Central League.
On that day, against Wimmera, back in 1971, Peter Golding booted 6 goals from a wing, and Graham Teasdale so impressed Richmond talent scout, Leo Rush, that he was signed soon after to join the Tigers.
The second photo. is of North-Central’s 1968 Under-15 schoolboys’ team, recently referenced in a Memorable Sporting Moment from coach, Frank O’Shea.

The team featured a number of players who went on to achieve outstanding careers, including Merv Keane, who played 238 VFL games with Richmond, including three premierships in 1973, ’74 and ’80.
It also includes the league’s 1977 Feeny Medallist, Robert White.
