The Buloke and Northern Grampians Landcare Network is celebrating its volunteers with a series of engagement activities and workshops this winter, thanks to Volunteering Victoria funding.
Members welcomed both a blue sky and 14 participants to a Hanging Baskets Workshop at Amy’s Buds and Blooms Nursery in Wycheproof on Monday, July 7. The workshop was designed with skill sharing and social networking in mind, opening with icebreaker/introductory activities and morning tea, thanks to Bakery on Broadway for the delicious sandwiches and slices.
Participants were then guided to make their own hanging baskets from a selection of complementary plants, provided by Amy’s nursery. Members enjoyed a social atmosphere fostered by a beautiful day gardening, as all participants created their own floral masterpiece. Some hanging baskets favoured flowers, whilst others went showcased herbs, and each was gifted with a homemade wire flower by Amy to the enjoyment of everyone involved. Amy concluded the day with a talk about her journey in creating her nursery, which is brimming with plants, garden ornaments and crafts, and simply beautiful to wander through.
The BNGLN relies on the efforts of its volunteers, whom it is always grateful for and deeply appreciates. With more community engagement workshops upcoming, including nature walks, workshops, and tree planting days, everyone is encouraged to be part of local Landcare.
