“Prelude”
Breakfast at Boxleigh was an All Out Affair
Whose turn is it to stir the porridge?
Quick, don’t let the toast burn!
Go easy on the milk – the cow kicked the bucket over again!
From the Head of the Table…
Come on Len – chin up, shoulders back, and hands out of pockets!
From such did the young Joan Storey step on to the stage of life.
“Refrain”
As the Moon was a Balloon to David Niven
The Whole Crowd was Family to Joan, especially those of youth.
Just like her Mother.
On the Racecourse she backed a winner – her favourite.
Rod and Joan Glen remained soul mates from the start;
They cleared hurdles in style and raised a family of their own likeness.
So the show goes on, and applause is still heard.
For Joan, however, the curtain has closed and the audience is hushed.
Yet melody lingers in a lasting refrain,
Because Joan is still with us . . .
As A Song to Remember.
Keep a green tree
In your heart and perhaps
a singing bird will come.
