This Weekend
“Wild Mountain Thyme” (PG 102 mins) is the Rex movie this weekend – a romantic comedy, featuring Emily Blunt, Christopher Walken, Jon Hamm and Jamie Dornan.
Set in Ireland and filmed in County Mayo, the movie’s overtones hark back to the classic romances of the past as headstrong farmer Rosemary Muldoon (Blunt) sets her heart on winning her neighbour Anthony Reilly’s (Jamie Dornan) love. The problem is, Anthony seems to have inherited a family curse, and remains oblivious to his beautiful admirer. Stung by his father’s plans to sell the family farm to his American nephew, Anthony is jolted into pursuing his dreams.
The film is based on the play “Outside Mullingar” by John Patrick Shanley, and the author also directs the movie, which has Jamie Dornan reprising his on-stage role.
Lavishly praised by audiences, the movie is filled with Irish charm, wit and humour, plus stunning visuals and evocative Irish music. A film to make you laugh and cry, “Wild Mountain Thyme” is heart-warming escapism!
“Wild Mountain Thyme” screens on Saturday, April 17, 8 p.m., Sunday, April 18, at 2 p.m., and Tuesday, April 20, at 8 p.m..
