Firefighters with the Donald Fire Brigade are taking their readiness to the next level, utilizing a specialized “car prop” to undergo live-fire training that brings true-to-life heat to their emergency drills.

While most volunteer training relies on cold simulations, the newly acquired prop allows local CFA volunteers to experience the intense heat conditions typical of real structural and vehicle fires.

District 18 was recently fortunate enough to secure the unit, giving local crews unprecedented access to live-fire scenarios over the past month.

The versatile training prop simulates multiple emergency environments.

Firefighters frequently use the rear door as a simulated garage entry to master critical door-entry techniques – a vital skill when advancing into a burning structure to prevent dangerous overhead flashovers and safeguard crew members.

Community members will have a front-row seat to see these life-saving skills in action. The Donald Fire Brigade will perform a live demonstration showcasing the prop’s capabilities at the Donald Show this Saturday at 1:30p.m..
