Having up-to-date first aid training could mean the difference between life and death for your family, friends and neighbours in an emergency situation.
Though we hope to never need to use it, keeping our first aid knowledge current through regular training is critical, and for many employees or volunteers to be legally compliant essential.
Last week, Dawn Ferrier from TalkSmart Training was in Birchip to provide community members, childcare workers and sports trainers with the skills and knowledge required to keep their certification relevant.
Dawn uses a new delivery mode called ‘Online Training with Face to Face Assessment’ so that participants can complete the theory content and theory assessment on-line at a time that is convenient to them.
Depending on the qualification required the participants then only need to spend 20-120 minutes with Dawn to complete the practical assessment. This training is much more flexible for participants, employees and employers as it is less time out of their own workplaces.
First aid techniques and procedures are constantly evolving based on the latest medical research and technologies.
What you learned in a course five years ago may now be outdated or even dangerous. By refreshing your first aid certification regularly, you ensure you have the latest knowledge and skills to properly respond in an emergency.
By participating in frequent first aid training, you also build your confidence and your techniques. You never know when you might be called upon to help someone in distress, so stay up to date and be prepared!
