On Thursday the Birchip Day Care students and staff had a fun-filled trip to the Birchip Memorial Park playground, where they climbed, swung, and slid on the vast playground equipment.
During Thursday’s excursion the childcare children visited TMC Enviro where they were kindly gifted hats and jelly beans. They climbed on the rope frames and metal climbing bars, flew high on the swings, zoomed down the slides, played the musical instruments and balanced on the see-saw and whizzes.
“These visits to the park are important for boosting the children’s gross motor skills, strength, balance and co-ordination, which supports their overall physical development,” said childcare leader Janine Paley.
Next Term
Next term the children from Birchip Day Care and Kindergarten will be participating in lots of exciting outdoor excursions in a concerted effort to develop their gross motor skills, experience new environments, interact with community members, and enjoy time outdoors.
In addition to the Day Care group visiting Birchip Memorial Park, the kindergarten group regularly visits the Birchip P-12 School playground and fitness track, where they get to experience large play equipment and bush kinder activities that encourage exploration and connection with the natural environment.
Active Learning
Through these regular outings, the Birchip Early Learning centre staff continue to promote active learning and community engagement, ensuring the children benefit from a well-rounded early childhood experience.
Enrolment registrations for both the Long Day Care and Kinder are currently open and interested families can contact the centre on 4311 1505 to arrange a visit to meet the team and look around the facilities.
Kindergarten is free (3 year old and 4 year old programs), with the 4-year-old program increasing to 20 hours of Pre-Prep in 2026. For more information about the kindergarten program and online registrations, families can visit ykinders.org.au.
